Look what is happening to SEFA in 2020

It has been 10 years since my first visit to Dubai for the ARABLAB Expo . At that time SEFA had 78 members from 10 countries. During that visit SEFA hosted a dinner/reception in the Gulf Auditorium at the Fairmont Hotel. The attendance for the event was so good, I knew this was just the beginning for SEFA and ARABLAB. Here we are, 10 years later‐‐ SEFA has grown to 170 members from 24 different countries. We believe this phenomenal growth is largely due to SEFA’s global partnerships, not the least of which is our commitment to ARABLAB and partnership with the Show’s visionary organizer ‐ David Domoney.

SEFA activities at ARABLAB 2020 include our networking reception at the Fairmont Hotel on March 16th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Sunrise Pool. All SEFA members are welcome to attend. Our thanks to Durcon, Trespa, Bicasa and S.C.A.T. Their generous sponsorship support makes this event possible. While at ARABLAB we hope you will remember to visit the SEFA Theater (inside the trade show) on March16th and 18th, where SEFA member exhibitors will be speaking about their companies and the products they sell.

The biggest news of the year for SEFA remains the 2020 SEFA Lab of the Year™ international competition. Entries are due July 1, 2020 and can be uploaded at www.sefalabs.com (see the “Lab of the Year” tab at the top of SEFA’s homepage where you will find useful information such as the Contest Rules, a list of the past award winners as well as sample submittals from past winners. The entry fee is $450.00 (USD) and we encourage everyone to consider entering their exceptional projects for this prestigious award.

The award ceremony will be held at SEFA’s 32nd Annual meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, November 4‐ 6, 2020. All companies and firms who participated in these award winning projects will be prominently featured at our Annual meeting, on SEFA’s website and in various promotional materials. We have plans to publish a special journal featuring the award winners. Please encourage architects and lab planners that were involved in your exceptional projects to submit them for consideration.

The 2020 SEFA Market Report and Survey has been well‐received by SEFA members. This important forecasting tool is commissioned by SEFA and distributed to all of our members at no charge. I will be speaking about certain aspects of the report on March 16th in the SEFA Theatre.

We are in the process of finalizing Version 3.0 (Fifth Edition) of the SEFA Desk Reference for worldwide distribution. The prior version was distributed to approximately 3000 industry professionals at various conferences, trade shows and summits throughout the world. Advertising is available for Version 3.0.
