While MBZUAI is a new institution, and as such is lacking in global acclaim compared to more established universities, it has already proven to be a successful establishment with a lot of global interest.

When applications opened in 2019, the university received over 3000 applications within the first week. Applicants were from a variety of countries, with the majority being from the Middle East, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and within the UAE.

Since first opening its doors, MBZUAI has become one of the top 20 global ranked universities in a variety of fields and welcomes students from over 41 countries.
